The Kindle DX Graphite is the latest version of the Kindle DX range of eBook readers from Amazon. The device, just like Kindle DX, is much bigger in size (9.7’’) as compared to Nook or even the previous generations of Kindle.

Though bigger, it is slimmer, feels light for its size and remains comfortable to hold. Just like any book, it can be held with one hand but feels more comfortable with two hands.

This version has better page refresh rate and a more accurate auto rotate. So you will find this one more convenient to read from when lying down in bed. It has free 3G wireless accesses in over 300 countries and can store up to a whopping 3,500 eBooks!

It also has a PDF reader and an enhanced ‘Read to Me’ which is a text to speech feature, an area where it definitely scores over the conventional paper book. The navigation buttons are conveniently placed on the sides.

It also has a QWERTY keypad to write notes wherever needed. Some might complain that the QWERTY keypad is too spread out which leads to awkwardness in typing. But it is easier to use with both hands and considering that anyone hardly types in an eBook reader, it is not a major issue.

The Kindle DX Graphite battery lasts for a week if used on a continuous basis. Amazon claims that it can last for as much as two weeks with the wireless turned off. Though we didn’t try that out, the battery does last longer with the wireless turned off.

The most remarkable feature of the Kindle DX Graphite is the new Pearl display from E-ink which delivers higher contrast and a better reading experience than any other eBook reader. The large size also enables reading of newspapers and magazines. It is an improvement over its previous version and is closest to reading from a paper book.

Hey there all Amazon fans, I guess you all know about Amazon’s Kindle. Well for those of you who don’t know that Amazon Kindle Text to speech is a cool function.

3) Kindle Keyboard (Has a 3G sibling which comes at a price of $149 to $189) : Built in wi-fi. Housing capacity for 3,5oo books. with a qwerty keyboard of it’s own.

4) Kindle Fire : This the very powerful ANDROID powered tablet of the Kindle family. With color display and touch screen. It has all the power that you would expect from a Tablet PC. Enjoy movies, games, apps, music, web, e-books, magazines, children’s books, graphic novels all in rich color. This costs $199 (special offer).

5) Kindle DX Graphite : This model has a 9.7″ high contrast scrren which allows you to read in sunlight with no glare.  Free 3g wireless and long battery life.

Now, the Kindle is very lightweight; at 8.5 ounces, it’s a third the weight of the iPad. That’s a big deal for a machine that you want to hold in your hands for hours.
